ZHO launches Mars programme to train healthcare graduates in Abu Dhabi

DUBAI, 23rd September, 2024 (WAM) — Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) today launched the “Mars” programme, a project aimed at training healthcare graduates in Abu Dhabi.

Launched in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the ZHO Board, Gabriela Michetti, former Vice President of Argentina, the initiative seeks to empower and train national talents, contributing to job creation across various sectors, particularly in the healthcare field, to facilitate the successful entry of graduates into the labour market, provide suitable job opportunities, and overcome challenges in coordination with its strategic partners.

This initiative follows the accreditation of ZHO by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi as a certified medical training centre for allied health professions, specifically in the organisation’s scope of work with various categories of People of Determination (intermediate level) through the Abu Dhabi Care and Rehabilitation Centre in Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain Care and Rehabilitation Centre in Al Ain, making it the only one of its kind in this field.

Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of Zayed Higher Organisation, confirmed that the goal of launching this national initiative is to empower Emirati healthcare graduates, enable their successful entry into the labour market by providing training and practical experience, support Emiratisation efforts in the healthcare sector, contribute to workforce development, enhance cooperation between educational institutions and healthcare providers, and strengthen the corporate social responsibility portfolio.

He added that regular evaluations of the programme will be conducted, along with feedback mechanisms from trainees and partners to ensure continuous improvement, adhering to the standards and regulations of the Department of Health. He also highlighted that Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination aims to expand the programme to include additional healthcare specialisations, increase the number of strategic partners and training locations, integrate with national Emiratisation strategies, and explore the possibility of international partnerships and exchanges.

Regarding the training programme, Al Humaidan explained that it ranges between six to twelve months, during which the trainee can rotate between participating institutions and entities according to their preference, guided by experienced healthcare professionals, with regular assessments and feedback provided.
