“Oman and Zanzibar Strengthen Bilateral Ties: Focus on Economic, Cultural, and Health Cooperation”

A delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) today visited the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD). The delegates met with Dr. Ali Masoud Al Sunaidi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ).
The meeting was attended by Eng. Ahmed Ali Akaak, CEO of SEZAD, and officials from the Authority.
The meeting touched on the efforts made by SEZAD to implement a number of infrastructure projects to enhance local and foreign investment in the zone. It was explained that those efforts directly contributed to attracting many local and foreign projects.
The two sides also discussed enhancing cooperation with the AIIB to benefit from the mechanisms available to the bank to finance new projects in SEZAD.
For its part, the bank delegation expressed keenness to consolidate cooperation with SEZAD, affirming the bank’s aspiration to expand its operations in Duqm.
It is worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman is one of the countries that contribute to the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
