Muscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH) welcomed a delegation of experts from the WHO’s Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean and its headquarters in Geneva on Sunday.
The visit of WHO experts to the sultanate has been scheduled to review Oman’s healthcare system, an official release stated.
‘It is part of a joint effort between the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Oman’s health system, one of the most advanced in the region.’
H E Dr Ahmed bin Salem al Mandhari, Undersecretary for Health Planning and Regulation Affairs; H E Dr Saeed bin Hareb al Lamki, Undersecretary for Health Affairs; Dr Fatima bint Mohammed al Ajmi, chairperson of the Oman Medical Speciality Board; Dr Nasser bin Hammad al Azri, Director General of Human Resources at MoH; and other ministry officials were present in Sunday’s meeting.
The assessment aims to identify Oman’s strengths, address its weaknesses, evaluate its health policies, and propose recommendations to enhance the system’s overall performance. The goal is to provide high-quality healthcare that meets the needs of the population.
The ministry, in collaboration with various relevant authorities, is committed to improving the quality of health services to ensure that the health system effectively responds to national and regional needs.
