“Oman and Zanzibar Strengthen Bilateral Ties: Focus on Economic, Cultural, and Health Cooperation”
In the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Al Jabal Al Akhdar, the second edition of the Rummana Festival was launched, and in the Dhofar Governorate, the Dhofar Khareef Festival began receiving visitors at various tourist sites, and the second edition of the “Ajwaa Ashkharah” forum was launched in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate in the Al Ashkharah Public Park, which continues until July 31 of this year. Various events and exhibitions.
The second season of Ajwaa Al Ashkharah Festival comes as a continuation of the successes of its first edition, which witnessed a large turnout from the community and visitors, whose number exceeded 220,000. In this edition, the organizing committee was dedicated to diversifying events and activities to meet the desires of all age groups of visitors to the forum. The various corners also provide entertainment, knowledge and marketing windows that enrich visitors’ knowledge and deepen their knowledge of the heritage of the Sultanate of Oman and its glorious legacy.
The forum also includes a number of accompanying activities, including kite flying displays, paragliding, fireworks, traditional competitions such as Al-Zafin, the art of Taghrud and Al-Razha, traditional performances such as horse show, heritage and marine competitions, interactive competitions on stage and social media, plays, poetry and artistic evenings, and arts workshops. And agility shows, and sports tournaments that include beach soccer, beach volleyball, bicycle racing, the “Drag Race” car challenge, and a cricket tournament.
Organizing the second edition of the Rummana event comes within the framework of the tireless efforts to enrich tourism agriculture in the Sultanate of Oman, and diversify tourism offers and products, to contribute to strengthening the position of Al Jabal Al Akhdar as a leading tourist, cultural and agricultural destination in the region.”
It is worth noting that the first edition of Rummana event – which was held over a period of 12 weeks – achieved remarkable success. It witnessed the visit of more than 22 thousand visitors from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman, and contributed to the sale of more than 1,800 kilograms of local pomegranate fruit in the sales outlets included in the event, with the participation of 38 local institutions.
Dhofar Governorate is one of the important tourist destinations locally, regionally and globally due to its picturesque nature. It also attracts various international events, and it is expected that this year’s season visitors will exceed the one million mark, especially in light of the presence of direct flights to Salalah Airport from various GCC countries.
The activities of the last Khreef season achieved an unprecedented turnout, as the number of visitors at the main sites ranged from 400,000 to 800,000 visitors to one site, in addition to more than 150 activities that were implemented last year, which varied between artistic, sports, cultural, heritage, and entertainment. The Khreef events this year are expected to reach 180 events over 90 days. This will provide visitors with a longer opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the governorate and its various activities and events in a number of locations where all services and facilities are available.
