LMRA CEO highlights Bahrain’s human rights achievements

Manama,

(BNA): Nibras Mohammed Talib, CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons (NCCTIP), emphasised the Kingdom’s achievements in protecting and upholding human rights, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This unwavering approach comes in line with the royal vision of safeguarding human rights and fostering a culture of respect.

The LMRA CEO expressed congratulations to HM King Hamad and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on Bahrain’s Tier 1 status ranking by the US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report for the seventh consecutive year. This reflects the international recognition of Bahrain’s pioneering efforts to uphold human rights through an institutional framework that ensures the rights of all.

He said that this achievement adds to the Kingdom’s record of achievements under the leadership of HM the King, highlighting Bahrain’s commitment to supporting international efforts in combating trafficking in persons and solidifying its position as a global model for promoting human rights and combating trafficking in persons.

Talib said that Bahrain’s position in the ranking, which assesses 188 countries in combating trafficking in persons, demonstrates the Kingdom’s global recognition and is a result of the institutional framework adopted by all governmental and non-governmental organisations, which reflects the culture of transparency and inclusivity within Bahraini society.

“In line with the vision of HM  the King and the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, we will intensify our efforts in coordination with relevant government and non-governmental agencies to review and enhance all measures taken by the Kingdom to ensure its leadership in combating trafficking in persons,” Talib said.

“We will also share Bahrain’s experience regionally and internationally to maximise the benefit of expertise and support global efforts in combating trafficking in persons,” he added.

Talib praised the efforts of all legislative, executive, and judicial authorities, as well as the cooperation with human rights institutions and civil society organisations.

These efforts have utilised all available resources to achieve social and economic security and support the stability of the labour market in Bahrain.

He commended the Ministry of Interior’s efforts, under the guidance of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in achieving social and economic security and supporting the stability of the labour market and conducting daily inspection campaigns across all governorates, as well as its rapid response in addressing and referring complaints to the relevant judicial authorities.

Talib emphasised the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the guidance of Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, in managing the human rights file and highlighting Bahrain’s efforts in various international forums.

He also commended the efforts of Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of Bahrain to the United States.

The Chairman of the NCCTIP praised the efforts of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the Supreme Judicial Council, and the Public Prosecution for their contributions to achieving justice and fairness.

He highlighted NCCTIP’s efforts for adopting initiatives and programmes that support this important issue, which include representatives from various government agencies and civil society institutions, along with the Expat Protection Centre.

This comes within the framework of the rule of law and in line with the Kingdom’s values and constants in upholding human rights and dignity, aimed at providing a safe and fair work environment.

Talib also highlighted the Bahrain-US cooperation in various fields, particularly in human rights, as well as the exchange of expertise with the International Organisation for Migration, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and other relevant UN organisations.
