Oman’s Leading Bank, Bank Muscat, Launches Second Batch of New Manager Training Program

Bank Muscat, a premier financial institution in the Sultanate of Oman, has commenced the second batch of its New Manager Training Program, a part of its broader initiatives overseen by the Jadarah Academy to enhance the capabilities of its employees. The primary aim of these programs is to empower bank employees to take on greater responsibilities, align with the bank’s strategic plans, and occupy pivotal positions.

The New Manager Training Program seeks to bolster the managerial skills of bank employees by equipping them with essential knowledge and updates necessary for handling day-to-day tasks and offering them support to streamline their work processes. This will prepare them for the substantial responsibilities demanded by their roles in the bank. The second batch of the program comprises around 32 employees and features workshops and online learning modules provided by Harvard Business School to support their learning journey. The first batch of 44 employees successfully completed the program in May 2023.

Saeed bin Salem Al Aufi, General Manager of Human Resources and Administrative Affairs at Bank Muscat, emphasized the vital role employees play as a cornerstone of the institution’s success and progress. He expressed his hope that these educational and training programs will equip employees with the necessary skills to advance in their careers, take up higher managerial responsibilities, and congratulated the first batch of program graduates on their diligence. Al Aufi reiterated the bank’s commitment to continue providing such training opportunities and ensuring a conducive working environment for all its employees.

Additionally, to further support employee development, Bank Muscat recently organized a leadership skills development seminar, in which around 120 employees from various departments participated. The bank welcomed two new batches of graduates to its Graduate Training Program, totaling 57 employees from various bank divisions.

The Education and Development Division (Jadarah Academy) at Bank Muscat actively contributes to enhancing the national workforce’s competencies through management and professional development programs. These programs aim to nurture the skills and capabilities of employees through e-learning modules, scholarships, professional certifications, management and leadership training programs. Human resources development is a priority at the bank, and it annually allocates a budget for the development and training of its human resources across various roles and responsibilities. Training programs are delivered through specialized courses by accredited training centers and academic collaborations with colleges, universities, and leading training centers at regional and international levels.

Training courses are extended to all employees, including new recruits who undergo intensive training before taking up roles in different bank divisions. They are introduced to modern customer service methodologies, the importance of ethical conduct, how to apply ethics in the workplace, professional communication skills, and building their ability to bear responsibilities and adhere to the highest work ethics. Bank Muscat is deeply committed to fostering and nurturing the Omani workforce across diverse specializations that the bank requires, encouraging and motivating these individuals through various programs.
