“Oman and Zanzibar Strengthen Bilateral Ties: Focus on Economic, Cultural, and Health Cooperation”

(ONA) — Represented by the Ministry of Social Development, the Sultanate of Oman is taking part in an international conference titled “Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment”, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from 6 to 8 November 2023.
The international conference is held under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The conference is jointly organized by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Secretariat General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Oman’s delegation at the conference is led by Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.
The conference seeks to highlight women’s success stories and the gains made by Muslim women since the dawn of Islam until the present time, in addition to women’s role and contribution to development in OIC-member states.
The conference includes five panel discussions during which officials, scholars and intellectuals will elaborate on women’s status and women’s rights in Islam.
They conferees will also explore prospects for empowering women in the field of education and at the workplace, in addition to opportunities and challenges related to Muslim women in contemporary societies.
