“Oman and Zanzibar Strengthen Bilateral Ties: Focus on Economic, Cultural, and Health Cooperation”

(ONA) — The Board of Trustees (BoD) of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies held its annual meeting at Bait Al Falaj Garrison for 2023.
The meeting was chaired by HH Sayyid Shihab Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Trustees.
At the outset of the meeting, HH Sayyid Shihab welcomed the BoD members, hoping that the meeting would contribute towards the realization of the Academy’s goals and mission. The Board members reviewed various topics on the agenda.
The Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies deals with developing strategic studies in line with approved plans and programmes, expanding the scope of strategic thought, implementing analytical aspects of strategic planning and honing the skills of Omani nationals to help them undertake leadership tasks. The Academy conducts strategic and defence studies and develops scholarly research in different domains. It also seeks to consolidate ties with universities, centres and specialized institutes.
The meeting was attended by HH Sayyid Dr. Fahd Al Julanda Al Said , Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Hassan Mohsin Al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy, Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, Maj. Gen Sulaiman Khalid Al Zakwani, Secretary General of Military Affairs at the Royal Office, Maj. Gen Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies, and Commodore Khalid Amir Al Salti, Director General of Studies and Academic Affairs at the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies, rapporteur of the meeting.
