Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) celebrated the graduation of 228 young Omanis today (7 June) as part of its Emdad initiative, in partnership with the “Musalih” platform.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Sayyid Salim Musallam Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources, the ceremony took place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Muscat.
As per the agreement signed in 2020 between PDO and the Musalih platform, the graduates underwent a specialized technical training program, focusing on areas such as plumbing, electrical connections, and installations.
Qualified graduates will now join Musalih, an online platform for handyman services, where Omani professionals are connected with customers seeking household services. The platform allows customers to select services, schedule appointments, and view transparent pricing, ensuring quick and efficient service delivery.
Eng. Abdul-Amir bin Abdul-Hussein Al Ajmi, PDO’s Director of External Affairs and Value Creation, expressed his confidence in the potential of young Omanis, emphasizing their remarkable capabilities. He hoped that their successful experience in these fields would inspire others to explore freelancing as a valuable source of income, dependent on self-learning and individual skills.
The Emadad initiative aims to enhance employment prospects for Omani job seekers through vocational training, scholarship opportunities, and apprenticeship programs. Emdad continues to collaborate with relevant government and private sector entities to establish sustainable opportunities aligned with the demands of the job market.
