Muscat: The General Federation of Oman Workers has recorded 16 reports of workers’ rights violations within a span of five days.
According to the federation, the reports included a deduction of wages, forcing workers to go on unpaid leave, deduction of leaves for quarantine periods from annual leave, and notifications of termination of service.
A statement issued online by the federation said, “Complementing the efforts of the Sultanate’s general federation to monitor and deal with labour reports and violations, in coordination with the competent authorities, it has signed 105 settlement minutes and a collective work agreement.”
According to the data shared by the federation, in the period from June 14 to June 18, 2020, 16 reports of various violations were monitored.
