Qatar Airways’ Al Darb Qatarisation Programme welcomed more than 50 students into its 2019 Summer Internship Programme at an induction ceremony that took place in Doha on Sunday. The ceremony enabled the students to receive a full briefing on the support they would be given while working at Qatar Airways. This year’s interns will have the opportunity to work in various divisions of the company, including Commercial, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Legal and Information Technology, as well as at Qatar Airways Cargo and Qatar Aviation Services, according to a press statement. Qatar Airways senior vice-president (Human Resources) Nabeela Fakhri said, “Qatari students are equipped with the motivation to learn and grow in whichever field they choose to enter. Qatar Airways Group offers a multicultural world of innovation and experience that paves way to a future of possibilities and success, both in the company and their own personal development. The students will have the opportunity to experience Qatar Airways Group’s energetic workplace, paving the way for them to gain and enhance essential career skills that will aid them after their graduation.
“As the internship programme concludes at the end of the summer, students will proudly display newly honed skills in planning and managing resources. In addition, they will be able to exhibit personal responsibility by working on multiple assignments while meeting tight deadlines.”
Students begin the Summer Internship Programme with four days of training in the fields of communication across cultures, business communications and effective presentation skills, in order to prepare them to work in a professional environment. Following their induction training, the students are paired with a line manager to ensure that each of them makes the most of their internship experience. Interns who participate in the Al Darb Qatarisation Summer Internship Programme are eligible to receive course credit from a number of local and international universities, the statement adds.
