The Secretariat General of the Tender Board today celebrated the passing out of the first batch of engineers who took part in a programme codenamed “Imkan” (Empowerment) to hone the skills of cadres tasked with the implementation of government projects and contracts.
Fifty engineers from different government establishments participated in the 6-month course, which seeks establish a highly efficient professional system of work that generates local added value in the management of government projects.
The programme sets out clear criteria for assessing the technical levels of organizational segments involved in the management of contracts and projects.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Eng. Said Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
Eng. Badr Salim Al Ma’amari, Secretary-General of the Tender Board, said that the second phase of the programme, which accommodates 120 engineers from 13 government departments, will be launched later this year (2024).
For his part, Abdullah Saif Al Hosani, Talent and Competency Development Adviser at the Secretariat General of the Tender Board, said that the programme will address many challenges facing contracts and projects, including delays, change orders, project faltering and the problem of projects taking too long to implement.
