Labour Minister delivers speech at 112th International Labour Conference

Geneva,

(BNA): Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), delivered a speech at the 112th International Labour Conference, held in Switzerland.

The minister said, in his speech, that the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, created a solid foundation for just social principles that aim at enhancing social solidarity.

Minister Humaidan outlined Bahrain’s efforts in backing the establishment of trade union freedoms, social dialogue, the principle of tripartism and ensuring social protection for all workers. This is in addition to the implementation of the unemployment insurance system, the wage protection programme, and the efforts made to provide legal protection for the workforce through regulatory systems and devices.

The minister highlighted the positive role of cooperation between the three production parties in Bahrain, which are the government, employers and workers.

This dynamic has contributed to consolidating the principles of social dialogue, revitalising programmes for qualifying and employing the national workforce and maintaining unemployment rates within safe borders, which creates quality career opportunities for job seekers, he said.

Minister Humaidan pointed to the national efforts to develop programmes that align educational outcomes with the needs of the labour market, taking into account the integrated social protection system, which has made Bahrain one of the advanced countries in terms of human development in several international reports and indicators.
