2nd Qatar Social Responsibility Conference, Exhibition Concludes

Doha,

The activities of the second edition of the Qatar Social Responsibility (CSR) Conference and Exhibition, which was held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, during the period from April 30 to May 2 of this year, concluded on Thursday.

The conference, entitled: “The Future of CSR in a Circular Economy,” addressed the topics of responsible management, the social impact of sustainable practices, labor issues, and responsible business behavior. The conference formed a major platform that brought together specialists, industry leaders, academics, and stakeholders from around the world, aimed at discussing, circulating and promoting corporate social responsibility practices, as well as being a platform for local and international experts and professionals in the field of social responsibility to discuss how to integrate economic, social and environmental objectives within the work of various institutions.

The conference agenda included a series of interventions, discussion sessions, and a workshop with the participation of many experts, academics, and leaders of development and social responsibility programs from various institutions participating in the exhibition.

During the conference, participants underscored the importance of committing to launching social responsibility initiatives that would achieve a package of long-term benefits and positives such as: improving the companys reputation, attracting distinguished talent, increasing customer loyalty, enhancing relations with investors, and increasing demand for the companys products.

They stressed that social responsibility has become a necessity to enhance customer confidence in companies, consolidate their presence in the markets, increase sales, and achieve the desired growth.

The participants also noted that the concept of social responsibility is the commitment to contribute to developing and improving the standard of living, and ensuring educational, cultural, economic, social and environmental guarantees for members of society, through allocating financial or in-kind donations, or through providing a package of different services and adopting models of emerging talents, or by contributing to the establishment of service facilities such as; Hospitals, schools, roads and bridges.

This edition of the conference highlighted the importance of broad international participation by a group of academic and humanitarian institutions and bodies.

It is worth noting that the organization of this event came within the activities of the eleventh season of the National Social Responsibility Program at Qatar University, which is one of the basic programs of the Initiative for Social Responsibility Foundation.
