The Executive Advisory Board of the Shaikh Nasser Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Centre (NAIRDC) convened a meeting to discuss comprehensive development plans for artificial intelligence (AI).
The meeting briefed the attendees on the center’s achievements for the previous year of 2023, which included 50 artificial intelligence (AI) projects that have been completed to support production in the industrial, financial and service sectors.
It also reviewed over 30 future projects to boost digital work in the kingdom.
Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Noaimi, CEO of NAIRDC, thanked the board for their efforts in achieving the centre’s goal to adopt future technologies and sciences.
Dr. Jassim Haji, Executive Advisor of NAIRDC, praised the board members’ contributions to embody Bahrain’s vision to become a leading research and development model.
The board members praised the center’s leadership in AI, congratulating them on obtaining international accreditation for ISO 27001:2022, specifically in the domain of information security management systems (ISMS).
With the aim of expanding its activities, the center 2024’s plan will focus on research supporting technologies and developing new applications like generative AI, strengthening internal and local industries, and establishing an AI academy for consultations and educational courses, as well as publishing AI applications via cloud computing through Artificial Intelligence as a Service (AIaaS).
The meeting was attended by representatives from public and private entities including: Interior Ministry, Industry and Commerce Ministry, Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry, Information and e-Government Authority (iGA), National Audit Office (NAO), Alba, Bapco Energies, Benefit Company, Tamkeen, GIPC, Representatives Council, Shura Council, Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), and the Government Hospitals.
