“Oman and Zanzibar Strengthen Bilateral Ties: Focus on Economic, Cultural, and Health Cooperation”
The Sultan Qaboos University Council held its fourth meeting for the academic year 2023/2022 today at the University Council Meeting Hall, under the chairmanship of His Highness Dr. Fahd bin Aljalendi Al Said, the University President and Vice Chairman of the Council, in the presence of honorable members of the Council.
The Council reviewed the progress of work at the university in various relevant aspects, as well as the executive status of various decisions and recommendations previously taken in the previous meetings. The Council approved several resolutions, including amendments to the regulations for the appointment of Omanis to academic positions, and the proposed annual budgets for the university and the university hospital for the fiscal year 2024.
The Council was briefed on the efforts made within the framework of the Second Executive Plan (2021-2025) of the University’s 2016-2040 strategy, to enhance the university’s position in the global rankings and the additional criteria introduced by the QS World Ranking Organization within the performance indicators for the year 2024, along with an analysis of the university’s performance results and the key influencing factors.
The Council also reviewed the university’s ongoing efforts and its pursuit of enhancing its financial resources and achieving the desired financial sustainability, within the framework of the strategic project “Increasing and diversifying the university’s financial resources,” which aligns with national directives and priorities of the stage.
